Et en plus, il est comme son tonton Jean. Vous avez vu dans le première photo comment dans le ring il envoie un uppercut du droit sur le gars à coté de lui? Un vrai catcheur est né.


He is the cutest. A real "face". Furthermore, he is like his uncle Jean. Did you notice in the first picture how in the ring he sends a right upper-cut to the kid next to him? A real wrestler is born. Lol.

Mardi 17 août. Alexis et Tim ne pouvant être avec nous le dimanche suivant pour l'anniversaire de Pierre, ils sont venus le mardi précédent. Belle soirée chaude d'été. Nous avons surtout eu l'occasion de souhaiter un bon anniversaire à Tim. Son cadeau était une lampe électrique pour les urgences. Pas besoin de piles, la manivelle intégrée recharge la lampe. Pour le dinner, crevettes grillées et barbecue.

Tuesday August 17. Alexis and Tim not being able to be with us the following Sunday for Pierre's birthday, they came the Tuesday preceding. Beautiful warm Summer evening. We especially had the oppportunity to wish Tim a happy birthday. His gift was a flashlight for emergencies. No need of batteries, the attached handle recharges the light. For dinner, grilled shrimps and barbecue.

Après presque 10 années de silence, mon vieux copain Rod Taylor et moi avons renoué notre amitié. Cela avait simplement été une toute petite dispute à propos de la politique de la France (Chirac) concernant les essais nucléaires à Tahiti. Suffisant pour que nous laissions le temps passer sans s'appeler mais toujours en pensant à l'autre de temps en temps. Rod est mon vieux copain de fac. Il est maintenant prof d'Allemand dans une université du Missouri. Nous étions heureux de le recevoir accompagné de sa gentille maman Dorothée. Nous rendons visite à Dot à l'occasion et aurons le plaisir de voir Rod aux vacances de fin d'année.
Nous les mecs avons mangé un steak tartare et les dames ont préféré un hamburger le tout accompagné de pommes frites.

After 10 years of silence, my old friend Rod and I have resumed our friendship. It had been about a little argument about the politics of France (Chirac) concerning the nuclear tests in Tahiti. Enough though that we let time pass without calling but always thinking about the other from time to time. Rod is my old friend from the U of U. He now is a professor of German at a university in Missouri. We were thrilled to host him and his sweet mother Dorothy. We see Dot once in a while and will be happy to see Rod during the end of the year break.
Us guys ate a steak tartare and the ladies opted for a hamburger all of if accompanied by pommes frites.

Fatigué du grill au gaz, nous avons décidé d'utiliser un grill au charbon de bois. C'est plus convivial d'avoir tout le monde autour du grill et de participer à la préparation du barbecue. Quoi qu'on ne le voit pas dans ces photos mais dans d'autres. C'est un peu plus lent mais plus agréable et ça cuit bien.

Tired of the gaz grill, we decided to now use a Webber charcoal grill. It's more fun to have everybody around the grill participating in the preparation of the BBQ. Though we can't see that yet in these pictures but on others. It's a little slower but more fun and it cooks well.

Jeudi 5 août, la veille du Landmark Forum pour Mamie et Papi. Nous avons eu le bonheur de partager la journée avec nos petits enfants. Beau soleil, température idéale.

Thursday August 5th. The day before the beginning of the Landmark Forum for Mamie and Papy. We had the joy of spending the day with our grandchildren. Beautiful sun, ideal temperature.

Samedi soir 31 juillet. Ça c'est du spectacle. Beaucoup de monde sur le ring quelquefois, avec les coups qui pleuvaient évidemment. Après avois joué les arbitres pour plusieurs matchs, Jean (connu dans le ring sous le nom de Jason Bravo) s'est ennervé et est monté dans le ring lui-même pour remettre un peu d'ordre dans tout ça. Bon, il en a donné et il en a pris aussi. Mais quand même ils s'y sont mis à trois (les tricheurs) pour le balancer du ring. Rien de cassé et tout le monde s'est bien amusé.

Saturday night July 31st. That's a show. Lots of people in the ring sometimes, with blows flying everywhere obviously. After playing referrees for several matches, Jean (a.k.a. in the ring as Jason Bravo) had had enough and climbed in the ring himself to bring some order in all of this. OK, he gave some and he got some. But nevertheless they had to be three (cheaters) to eject him from the ring. Nothing broken and fun was had by all.
